Coconut oil is a great butter and other oil replacement. I especially love baking with it. It lends a little extra sweetness to whatever you put it in. As someone who was raised on slapping butter on everything it's been had to cut out entirely so I usually do half butter half coconut oil in my recipes. Nothing beats coconut oil frosting though!
I use coconut oil as both a daily leave-in conditioner and as a deep conditioner. To deep condition I completely coat my hair and wrap it up in a towel over night. I then wash my hair like normal the next morning. As a daily leave-in I melt a little in my palm and lightly run it through my hair. It's perfect for controlling the frizz I combat with my curly hair without weighing it down like many commercial leave-ins do.
3. Homemade Lotion
Personally I whip it with a little grapeseed oil in my mixing bowl to get closer to the lotion consistency I'm used to. It's way less expensive and moisturizes a lot better than most store-bought body lotions.
4. Diaper Rash Treatment
I'm pretty sure my daughter has the most sensitive bum in the world. Anything new tends cause a diaper rash and most of the creams we tried made it worse. A swipe or two of coconut oil almost always clears it right up for her!
That's right! Coconut oil can help reduce the appearance of those wonderful mommy marks ;)
6. Make-Up Remover
I've used several make-up removers but they have all irritated my eyes. I used to resort to globbing on my face moisturizer to remove my eye make-up but now I use coconut oil and it gets the job done just as well without wasting all the product!
